Epichlorohydrin is, unlike its name would suggest, not a halogen. Instead, it is an organochlorine compound and an epoxide. The compound does not have colour and a sharp smell that resembles the odour of garlic. In water is it slightly dissolvant and it is miscible with most polar biological solvents.
